May 99. Aghora site online.
I am proud to announce (albeit a bit late) , the launch of the AGHORA website. The site includes an exclusive .mp3 sample from the AGHORA promo demo, which is not available to the public.
The site is at www.veilmaya.org/aghora.
PLEASE NOTE: you'll need the flash 3 plugin for yer browser.March 99. News and stuff.
Here's part of a post to the Ahamkara maillist from Brian Shaffer
-There was an interview with Chris Kringle in Canadian metal fanzine Mindspell (issue 3). He talks about his background, the portal sessions, and mentions he recently played on the solo album by a guy named Jeff Schroedl.
-check out the ahamkara guestbook: Epitaph's drummer signed in and mentions he is playing with Incubus' bass player and Tony Teegarden (who did the death style vocals on "Focus") on a new project influenced by early Cynic/Messhugah. Sounds promising.
-Ron Jarzombek's website mentions Sean Malone and Sean Reinert, as well as Steve Digiorgio and current Death drummer Richard Christy may be playing on the second Spastik Ink album. I listened to the guitar demos Ron put on his site and they sounded great.
-I've heard Sean Reinert and Paul Masvidal were playing together on some stuff out in California, but didn't hear any details. The Spaun drum company mentioned that Sean was doing session work and recorded some soundtrack music for the Discovery channel. Anybody know what these other projects are?
December 98. Ahamkara moves, New Music up on the site.
NEW URL FOR AHAMKARA
This is an early warning post to people that have links to ahamkara on their pages, soon I am going to permanently move ahamkara to it's new location at http://www.veilmaya.org/cynic . this is to bring all the veilmaya sites into one umbrella site, namely veilmaya.org. If you have a link to the site on your site, please switch to the new url, the site is up in 2 locations at the moment and i'll only be updating the site at veilmaya.org from now on..New Sound Samples
By the way, on the new site (http://www.veilmaya.org/cynic) i have put some mp3's as supplied to me by sean malone. There are 3 samples from Gordian Knot, and also 3 snippets from a rare live recording of cynic in 94 i believe, on the focus tour. They are in the ARCHIVEAGHORA
I also received santiago dobles' AGHORA demo which features Sean Reinert on the drums, this is highly recommended to cynic fans and has a real cynic flavour to the music...more info as I get it.Bye for now, i'm off to California for xmas and the new year, so Merry Christmas to all and thankyou very much for supporting Cynic and The Ahamkara "empire" :-) cheers
November 98. Sorry for long delay!.
Here's an interesting bit of news on the guestbook from Ula Gehret"As means of an update on Paul, I ran into him at the airport several months back (and nearly didn't recognize him with short hair), he was in the process of writing some songs for the singer that used to front the pop band Berlin (I'm drawing a blank on her name), and is living in Hollywood now; his business card listed him as a "Songwriter / Composer / Guitarist". He seemed pretty removed from the old days and said he hadn't kept up on heavy/prog music or the other guys in the band, so any kind of reunion seems highly doubtful, but at least he's still involved in music."
Apparently Sean Reinert is also out in California at the moment, and was supposed to be partly involved in this opportunity, but the details on that are sketchy (in my mind at least).
Other stuff
Gordian Knot should be out by now in Japan, US/european release is expected Jan 19. There is a shockwave flash trailer movie on my site veilmaya.org.
The Anomaly disc featuring the 2 seans is out now too, you can find out more on the anomaly site
13th July. FOCUS is album of the week.
Rishi Saez has made focus "album cover of the week" at his site MORBID VISIONSAlso, if you haven't so far, join our mailing list via the textbox on our homepage. Listbot has now allowed discussion lists so we can now have a proper chat forum.
2nd July. Gordian Knot CD completed.
The new solo project from Sean Malone, "Gordian Knot" is now finished. I have just received an advance copy of the CD and it is absolutely awesome. Well worth the wait. The track listing has changed slightly from my last post, "Srikara Tal" is now on the main disc and both "unquity road" (a pat metheny song) and "Grace" become bonus tracks on the japanese version of the disc. All 3 tracks from the Ever demo appear on the disc, albeit rerecorded with extra solos and some slight rearrangement, with the exeption of "Shaman's whisper", which seems to have mutated into the awesome "code/anticode". Ron Jarzombecks playing can only be described as genius.
There is no official release date for the CD, but i'm sure that will change soon. As soon as I know one, I'll post it here.
